Deck Cleaning

Bring Back the
Color of the Wood.

Wilmington's heat-and-humidity load (73 to 81% summer relative humidity), combined with the salt air off the Cape Fear River and the seasonal pollen-and-debris cycle, keeps every exterior surface in active need of maintenance. Add hurricane post-storm grime,Florence in 2018, Fran in 1996,and the cleaning cycle never really stops. That's the backdrop for any honest conversation about deck cleaning here.

From the antebellum brick of the Historic District to the planned communities of Landfall, Mayfaire, and Forest Hills, the constants are the same: humidity, salt, sun, and storms. Our job is to clean what's already in place and add years of life without replacement. Wilmington's housing mix is the widest on the coast: antebellum and Victorian brick in the Downtown Historic District (one of the largest in the US), planned subdivisions in Landfall and Mayfaire, and the post-1980s suburbs of Forest Hills and Pine Valley. Power washing has to be calibrated to each, historic brick gets a different touch than vinyl siding or stamped concrete.

Bio-based detergent lifts algae, mildew, pollen tar, and gray patina from the boards. Pressure is calibrated to the material, wood gets a lower setting than composite. Most decks come out looking close to new in a single visit. Stain or seal follow-up is optional,we'll recommend timing.

Frequently Asked Questions

Got Questions?

Wood and composite deck cleaning for Wilmington homes.

What decks can you clean?+

Pressure-treated lumber, cedar, redwood, ipe, mahogany, composite (Trex, TimberTech, AZEK, others), PVC decking, and aluminum. We adjust technique to the material.

Will the wood raise grain or splinter?+

Not with proper technique. We use the right pressure and the right tip distance for each wood type. Raising grain happens when too much pressure hits soft wood,we don't run into that with our setting on softwood decks.

Will the gray come back?+

Slowly. Coastal UV and humidity will eventually re-weather wood. Sealing or staining after cleaning extends the clean look 2 to 4 years. We can recommend a follow-up timeline.

Can you stain or seal the deck after cleaning?+

We focus on the cleaning. We work with local finishers and can recommend who to call for stain or seal, timing matters (wood needs to fully dry before sealing), so we'll coordinate.

Will the wash work on Wilmington's historic-district brick and trim?+

Yes, with a calibrated approach. Antebellum and Victorian brick and woodwork need care around old mortar and lead-paint era trim. We adjust pressure and chemistry by surface, modern vinyl and fiber cement get a different treatment than 19th-century brick. Historic-district homeowners are some of our most common Wilmington power-washing customers.
